2015 Sponsorship Opportunities

Sponsorships help offset the cost of our events and that means that the event is more profitable and therefore, more money stays with AHS to help us in continuing to fulfill our mission. Please give generously.

Greetings from the Austerlitz Historical Society. Summer has arrived in the beautiful hills of Austerlitz and our long winter is over. That means it is time for us to turn our thoughts to our two fundraisers that are an integral part of Austerlitz and our community. On Sunday, July 26th, our widely popular Blueberry Festival marks its 16th year of providing blueberries galore plus vendors, crafters and top-notch entertainment throughout the day. On Sunday, October 11th, our 19th annual Autumn in Austerlitz Festival takes visitors back to a simpler life of an old tyme harvest festival and community gathering. Fresh-pressed apple cider, butter churning and volunteers dressed in costumes of the 1830’s era abound as visitors make their way to our soup kitchen serving hot soups and chili with fresh baked bread or to sit a spell on the lawn and listen to American folk music drift through the field.

If you haven’t been to one of our four quarterly meetings we hold each year, you’ve missed out on learning about one-room schoolhouses in America, Damsels and Dragonflies, The Cannibal of Austerlitz, Oscar Beckwith, the growth of the Edna St. Vincent Millay Society and much, much more. In December, the Spencertown and Austerlitz community come together for an entire weekend of holiday revelry and celebration with a tree lighting, breakfast with Santa Claus, angelic voices of a choir filling the hall at Spencertown Academy Arts Center and the AHS Community Sing in our beloved 1853 Christian Church. The Austerlitz Historical Society, with our 9 buildings and nearly 20 acres of fields set at the base of Harvey Mountain, is a community centerpiece for our area bringing together young and old, local and visitor, history buffs and fun seekers. From May to October we attract nearly 3,000 people who visit Austerlitz to learn more about our history and heritage and to enjoy their time in our quiet little town.

We enjoy spending time with our visitors, letting them tour our buildings dating from the 1780’s to the 1850’s, and taking in the views of our spectacular property. This is all part of our mission afterall. This important mission requires the assistance of our volunteers, our membership, our Board of Trustees and our community partners. Your single, annual donation, helps to offset a portion of our annual operating expenses and helps pay for festival items such as entertainment, tent rentals, portable sanitary facilities and advertising costs, just to name a few. We are seeking your support so that the Austerlitz Historical Society can continue its work of preserving, protecting and interpreting the history of Austerlitz. We will acknowledge your generosity in various ways depending on which supporter level you choose from the list below. Thank you for your consideration.
