Special Open Hearth Cooking Workshop

 

The Austerlitz Historical Society invites you or someone you cherish to celebrate Mother’s Day with a unique Open Hearth Cooking Workshop designed to bring motherly love and sharing back into the heart of the home.

 

Invite your mom, your daughter, grandchild or friend.  Give the workshop as a gift to someone you love or to yourself!

LavadaBrightLearn from food expert and historian, Lavada Nahon, about the skills needed to:
Build hearth and oven fires; maintain temperatures; choose  hearth “furniture;” work with period cookware and utensils; understand and interpret 19th Century “receipts” (recipes); prepare meals using historically correct ingredients; and, explore a variety of cooking methods.

The workshop will culminate at table, where the day’s bounteous early spring meal will be shared and enjoyed by all.  This is a hands-on, fun-filled, and educational cooking experience.
